Born and raised in the city that gave birth to Western art and civilization, it may seem ironic that from this ancient place an Athenian by the name of Nikos Tavoularis is destined to testify to the world his melodic guitar creativity.

Spent most of his childhood years in the country side where he firstly got hooked up with the accordion (!!!). After a few years of accordion practicing, he realized that the sounds that called in his heart did not come from any kind of keyboard but from strings ... And thus begun his so far longer lasting relationship. At first it was classical guitar and studies and later on the electrics. He never, ever regretted the time spent on accordion or his experimentations on drum playing because those things proved most useful in his later “musical career”.

Back in Athens for studies, he continued practicing and started meeting people who where into music, formed various bands and had gigs in all sorts of places. Things got more serious a few years later, when he became the lead guitarist for a rock band called “MORAL” and had his first official work published with Universal records company. In the following years he also became the lead guitarist for “KARMA” with which two more works were published. He has worked as a session / Guest musician with several bands and artists like Vasilis Papakonstantinou and Christos Dantis to name a few, playing at the most famous stadiums / clubs in Athens and making TV appearances in various Greek shows and events. He has also had the privilege to meet, spent some time and jam with some of the best guitarists in the world.

A musician / guitarist that could not resist tackling the bigger questions in life as so many before him have done, Nikos searches for answers with his most trustworthy and soul provoking asset, his guitar. It may seem difficult to illuminate the content of his inspiration, from folk to the blues, from country to classic rock and everything in between. What is clear however is that his musical composition bears witness to the hardships and triumphs of everyday life. A guitarist who decorates the story he is telling with chords and notes that come straight from the heart and speaks directly to the soul ... Nikos has a story to play.

Through the process of all the above recordings, he realized that he had a lot more feelings to express, his own tunes flowing in his mind looking for a way out … thus, began his first project. It took time, patience and many sleepless nights but every piece of it is unique !!! A lot of different sounds and styles, inspired by different feelings or memories of moments full of happiness and times of feeling blue … He has been influenced by so many great players, from the likes of BB King and David Gilmour, to Steve Vai and Gary Moore and also inspired from his every day life, family and his friends. His debut album “Dreams on Strings” has been called complex, beautiful and even risky. His father, a physician by profession and a soft spoken man gave him this simple advice once, he said: “your music heals your soul and it will heal others who will listen, so play”.

And now, it’s time for the rest of the world … atmospheric, blues, country, soul and rock lovers … to know Nikos Tavoularis.
